Dubai
One of the
Trucial States in the Persian
Gulf. Formerly used the stamps of Muscat. British control of the postal
services ceased in 1963.
On 2nd Dec 1971 Dubai and six other Gulf Sheikdoms formed the State of the
United Arab Emirates. UAE issues commenced in 1973 (SG)

Notes
1. Although Scott #2 and SG4, the 4 rigsbank skilling stamp is
#1 in some catalogue numbering systems. It is also much cheaper to buy, which is
why it appears here. Incidentally, the Danich currency in 1851 was 96
rigsbank skilling = 1 rigsdaler. In 1875 this changed to 100 ore = 1 krone. Even
better news, a FICC
colleague advises that, 'Denmark #2, 4 R.B.S. brown, issued April 1, 1851. #1
issued a month later, May 1, 1851. #1 is a local stamp for use in Copenhagen'.
