Northern Rhodesia

A British territory in central Africa, North of the Zambesi. From 1954 to 1963 part of the central African Federation and using the stamps of Rhodesia & Nyassaland. A new constitution was introduced on 3rd Jan 1964, with internal self-government and independence came on 24th Oct 1964 when the coutry was renamed Zimbabwe. (SG)
