GB £1 stamps

This page follows on logically from the GB 1 pennies. One key difference is that I cannot afford any of the first six stamps and so will be using images from a variety of acknowledged sources. My intention is to show all the images with a height of 300 pixels, reduced on the page to 100 - click to enlarge..

1891 Sc124 SG212 £1 green £2,500 / £450		This is the same design as SG185 and SG186 but. clearly, a new colour and almost affordable. Image from eBay.

1955 Sc312 SG539 £1 black £130 / £35		Two variants (with another on the way in 2005), the 1959 SG598 (£95 / £12) and the 1967 SG762 (£5 / £7), all three from different printers. See also 2005
1969 Sc SG790 £1 black £2.75 / £2
1969 Sc SG831b £1 black £5 / 80p		The only difference between SG790 and SG831b is the font on the '£1'. What's the point of that? The first £1 stamp cataloguing at less than the face value - in my comfort zone at last.
1977 Sc SG1026 £1 green and olive £2.75 / 20p
1988 Sc1230 SG1410 £1 deep green £3.25 / 60p		The 1992 SG1611 (£6 / £1) has a golden queen's head, an elliptical perforation and a font variation depending on the printer. There was another printing in 1999 of the higher values (£1.50, £2, £3, £5), but not the £1.
2000 Sc SG-MS2147 £1 slate green £10 (for the sheet)		This miniature sheet of 'Her Majesty's Stamps' was issued at London's 2000 International Stamp Show. The same £1 stamp appears in a 2004 prestige booklet which catalogues for an absurd £55
2002 Sc SG-Y1707 £1 violet £1.50 / £1.60		This is the stamp currently on sale (Feb 2005).
22nd March 2005		To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first QE2 castles issue. Two £1 and two 50p stamps on a miniature sheet.
2007		For the 40th anniversary of Machin definitives, this miniature sheet (SG MS2743) was issued, containing two first class stamps and two £1 stamps in new colours, the SG-Y1725 and Y1725b.
