Herbs

Jan Blackburn BSc MSc MNIMH

Western Medical Herbalism aims to restore and maintain health using plant-based tinctures, teas and topical applications alongside diet and life-style advice to improve general well being.

I offer patients treatments for digestive problems, irritable bowel, women's health problems including PCOS, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, allergic responses, hay fever, sinusitis, bronchitis, lowered immunity, stress, migraines, circulatory problems, angina, high blood pressure, arthritis, skin complaints including eczema, acne, psoriasis, coughs, cystitis, prostate problems, and many more health problems.

It is important to note that herbal remedies should only be prescribed as part of a structured consultation including a full physical examination. However, for those who are seeking an over-the-counter remedy, some herbal equivalents do exist and I intend to make a selection of these available through this web site. A number of products will be developed over time, for which please follow the links below. I will also recommend books on the subject of medical herbalism which I have found useful. The first area I will address is Trapped Wind and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, followed by skin complaints, then Insomnia and disturbed sleep.
