Mondrian Stamps
There are several issues of stamps. The first two,
Netherlands 1983, the De Stijl issue, showing an easel holding Mondrian's
Composition 1922. The second shows a contra-construction - 'Maison Particulière'
- by Van Doesburg and Van Eesteren. |

Here's the same stamp
but on a postcard of itself.

The 1994 Netherlands issue is wholly Mondrian and
features:
70c - detail of Red Windmill |
o |
|
80c - ruitvormige compositie met hele lijnen (it says here)
I'm
guessing that means one of the diamond compositions and some clothing |
o |
|
90c - detail of Broadway Boogie Woogie (that one keeps coming back)

This is from Togo. I don't know whether this is a
"real" postage stamp or an example of that cash-generating sticky
paper which some governments, nations and entrepreneurs produce.

I think there is another Mondrian-related stamp issued by
Libya or Liberia, but I have never found a copy. Philatelists do not seem to be
very good at answering emails from Mondrian enthusiasts trying to pick their
brains.
(25th May 2002)
Here's the Liberian stamp, at last, sent by a kind
contributor and fellow collector. I must find the real thing. |

And there
are others in the set - see here.
Well I've managed to
find a set, but I only got the picture on the right, not the portrait.
Keep looking. |
