Windmills

I enjoy collecting topics. It gives you something else to look out for while wading through all those boxes and packets that turn up every week. I suppose First Issues can be regarded as a topic, but it seems more than that to me and, I suspect to its other addicts. I have wanted to collect windmills for a while: firstly because I read in a couple of places that this was a popular topic, which seemed rather strange; secondly because, after this lodged in my mind, I looked out for them and didn't see any, so that made it a challenge; thirdly, I suspect because I had a Mondrian Windmill before I started collecting stamps. Today (18th April 2004)  I found my second windmill stamp, perhaps predictably another Netherlands issue. So here we go on another collection.

There is an excellent web site listing windmill issues here, translated, courtesy of Google, here. With a few more here.

GB booklet with a windmill. The stamps inside are not windmill-centric, but just happen to be one of the finest GB definitives ever issued, combining the QV profile with the QE2 Machin.
